RICHARD AVEDON

Richard Avedon approached to photography at very young age.

He began working for Harper's Bazaar in 1947. His style was deeply influenced by Munkacsi, but his fashion photography has a narrative, theatrical and filmic dimension.

With his photos, Avedon influenced the role and the personality of the models, who began to take on a leading role.

He was one of the few who was able to best interpret his era. In fact, in an America marked by strong racial tensions, Avedon photographed Donyale Luna for Harper's Bazaar on April 1965: she was the first black woman to appear in a US fashion magazine.
