LOTTE VAN RAALTE
BODY, Lotte's first photographic book, is a project in which she opened her eyes to the beauty of the stretch marks, scars and wrinkles present on the bodies of the women she came into contact with. Over the course of just over 16 months, the photographer shot 46 women between the ages of 13 and 94. Many of them were unknown, while others were his relatives or friends.
She justifies the fascination for the female body in three ways: the fact that women are dominantly sexualized and unrealistic portrayed within the fashion, film and music industries. The fact that the female body is the bearer of new life, and the enormous impact that comes with it. And last but not least, the fact that she is a woman.
